Getting involved
Bullying cannot be ignored or denied. Millions are suffering because of it and yet, with your active help it can be eradicated from society. Bullies must know that they cannot get away with it. Victims have to know they will no longer suffer in silence at the hands of some bully. Society has to know that bullying is not cool. Bullying cannot only be dealt with by those in authority. This must be a grassroots, combined and persistent effort. Bottom line . . . YOU CAN GET INVOLVED!
Be An Upstander Take a personal stand against bullying. Vow to not bully anyone and stand up for victims of bullying every time. In nature animals herd because there is power in numbers. Bullies love to exploit people through isolation, intimidation and domination. Stand with someone and you are stronger than standing alone. Sign the Anti-Bully Pledge and commit to live by this very simple rule: HASHTAG Have A Sweet Heart Treat All Good Be An Influencer Now that you are personally committed to the anti-bullying cause influence others to follow your lead. Make HASHTAG Have A Sweet Heart Treat All Good an exciting creed. Having fun while helping others and being good is surprisingly contagious. Be A Recruiter Get your friends and family on board. You can point them to sign the Anti-Bully Pledge. Your next birthday party can have an anti-bully theme. Order a few Hashtag Big Bad Bully books and make Hashtag cupcakes (An icing hashtag can remind them of the acronym for Hashtag.) Make or Take a moment to describe the problem of bullying and how you and your friends can actively rise up against it. Explain to them why this is important and why this issue is near and dear to your heart. True friends will respect your leadership and initiative. Make Hashtag Have A Sweet Heart Treat All Good a motto for the month in your sports team, class, school, church group, swim team of club. Tell your leaders, teachers, parents and monitors that this issue is a passion of your and you would like to see it addressed, discussed and highlighted in some way or another. President John F Kennedy once said: "As the great parliamentarian Edmund Burke said, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” Doing nothing is not an option when it comes to bullying. Rise up and be a part of this tremendous movement. You have an important role because you are important. Be determined that bullying stops with and around you. |
